In May 2022, the national Police Race Action Plan was launched; developed jointly by the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) and the College of Policing. The plan sets out changes to improve outcomes for Black people who work within or interact with policing.
Adopting a listening approach, feedback on the plan was obtained from a range of internal and external stakeholders and submitted to the College of Policing.
A high-level strategic RAG (Red/Amber/Green) assessment has been carried out on the plan; identifying the key actions that need to be undertaken by the force, and the conversation with our Black and ethnic minority communities continues.
We have set up a Community Advisory Board to support our work on this plan.
