Protecting Children – Our Statutory Duty Devon and Cornwall Police and other statutory partners (local authority, health, education and police) have a legal duty to share information and work together to safeguard children and protect them from harm and abuse. These statutory responsibilities and arrangements are set out nationally in Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018. Each Local Authority area has a Safeguarding Children Partnership or Board responsible for ensuring services in that area are working effectively to protect children.
