How you can join the police

We are open for recruitment. We will train you to be a first class officer. You’ll be a paid officer from day one, working alongside experienced officers. Over the course of a three year training period you’ll learn the essential skills needed to be a modern officer. Your training will be a mixture of on the job learning, classroom based study & personal research as part of the new Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA). By the end of your training you will be fully qualified, with a degree in Professional Policing Practice. We welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds and encourage anyone who has considered a career in policing to submit an application form. We are particularly keen to increase the number of women officers and officers from black and minority ethnic communities and candidates from the LGBT community to ensure our workforce represents the communities we serve. What you need to do first: Check your eligibility Do you have Level 2 in Maths & English (C or above) and a Level 3 qualification? If not, you won’t be eligible If your application is successful, are you free to attend an Assessment Centre on 13/14 July or 22/22 September? Do you already have a degree? If so you’ll have to to wait for the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) to open in 2020. If you already work for Devon & Cornwall Police or are a Special Constable, please register using the internal link on SharePoint, don’t use the link below. There’s some more detailed guidance below on eligibility. Register The first stage is registration and some basic online assessments to check your eligibility & suitability. You’ll need your National Insurance number and your driving licence to do this. The whole online process takes about 30 minutes.
