On Sunday 3rd December 2017 we held Operation Blueranger which was designed to tackle the illegal use of motor vehicles on off-road locations in the Falmouth, Truro and Camborne areas. In the build up to this operation we used social media and other online avenues such as Parish council websites to publisise why riding off-road is illegal and the laws surrounding this. We also publisised locations that we found online that had designated off-road tracks so that people knew that there wasm somewhere to go to that would enable them to pursue their hobby legally rathern than pursuing it illegally.
On the day the operation was successful and we managed to get the message out to members of the off-roading community what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. The results of the operation are as follows:
1 Prohibition notice for a vehicle unfit for the road in Camborne
1 HORT to provide detials ref a vehicle with no insurance
1 OSCO (ticket) for not MOT
1 Vehicle siezed for having Kerosene in its tank by HMRC. This seizure then went on to show that the garage that sold the vehicle also had a number of other vehilces running with Kerosene in their tanks and therefore those vehicles were also seized and the garage was given a very heavy fine.
