Seaton Neighbourhood Police Team attended Seaton Library at the end of March 2019 and gave a talk to youths aged 11-17 about Internet safety.
The talk helped inform the youths on how to stay safe online as well as informing them of how much information can be obtained about them via their social media accounts and details they place onto the internet.
Advice was given about scams, personal data security, online crimes, and where to look for information on how to stay safe online.
The talk was well attended, and lots of questions were raised by the youths who were all very interested and surprised what they found when trying to find information out about themselves.
A useful site for advice for parents or anyone working with youths, and how to talk about the issue is Thinkuknow.co.uk a site written by the National Crime Agency on the subject.
