Public consultation

This section contains information about how we consult members of the public about policing issues, and how you can take part in the consultation process.

What is public consultation?

Every year, we ask up to 100,000 people in Devon and Cornwall about a whole range of policing issues and concerns. We talk to members of the public, victims of crime and hard-to-reach groups, as well as our own members of staff. We use the results of our consultations to help us identify opportunities to improve our service to you.

As well as our own surveys, we also support other police departments with their own consultation.

How do we consult?

We use a number of methods as part of the consultation process.

These include:

  • Online surveys
  • Discussion groups
  • Telephone surveys
  • One-to-one interviews
