Conditions of entry

Misconduct hearings are a formal process. The below information and conditions of entry apply. You must agree to follow these conditions when registering to attend a hearing.

• Attendees must produce photographic identification and confirmation of their successful applications before being allowed to enter either police premises or the hearing.
• If the hearing is taking place on police premises, attendees will be escorted around the site and will also be required to wear a visitor ID badge. This must always remain visible.
• Please do not leave or enter the hearing room until there is a break in proceedings. Attendees must remain in the designated area when the hearing is not in progress and must consult with your chaperones if you have any queries.
• Attendees must not disrupt the proceedings; their entry is as an observer only. Any disruption to proceedings may result in the person responsible being asked to leave and/or escorted from the premises.
• No social media reporting is allowed while the evidence is still being presented.
• Smoking is not permitted in any building and only in designated areas.
• Attendees along with any belongings may be subject to a security search as a condition of entry, or re-entry. Sharp objects or blades will not be permitted. Police will retain the authority to seize any article found during a search which may cause harm to any person.

Additional conditions of entry may be necessary in certain circumstances. These will be provided to attendees prior to the hearing.

Cameras and recording equipment

Mobile phones and other devices can be retained but must be switched off during the hearing. Cameras must not be brought inside the building. Camera functions on other devices must not be operated and the taking of pictures is forbidden anywhere at the venue.

Laptops and tablets may only be used by accredited members of the press association for the purpose of writing and may not be used to access the internet or used for other purposes.

No person is permitted to take photographs or other images of any person entering or leaving the venue. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in you being directed to leave and escorted from the venue.

No person is permitted to make or attempt to make a sketch of any person in the hearing room, of any person being a panel member, legal representative, member of police staff, police officer, witness or any other interested party to the misconduct proceedings.
