- Please provide the figures for the following calendar years: 2023, 2022, 2021. For example, in 2021, 12 individuals were placed in custody under section 136
2. The number of people placed in police custody after being detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 - broken down by ethnicity.
- Please provide the figures for the following calendar years: 2023, 2022, 2021.
- For example, in 2021, 12 individuals were placed in custody under section 136. 10 individuals had an ethnic appearance of white British, 1 self defined as Black British etc
Please note: if for data protection reasons you are unable to provide the figures broken down by year, please collate the figures over the three year period.
I.e. between 2021 and 2023, 34 individuals were placed in police custody after being detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983, 31 individuals were white etc
The Performance & Analysis Department have provided the following information.
Between January 1st 2021 to December 31st 2023, there were 8 individuals placed into police custody, under S136 of the Mental Health act. All 8 individuals are of "White-British" ethnicity.
