Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FOI/24/7060
Version Date: 14/10/2024
I would like to know how or who funds the presence of Police at commercial events such as football matches and concerts etc.
The Alliance Finance Department have provided the following information.
We can confirm that Police presence at commercial events, in a non-emergency capacity would only take place if the Organisers had requested this service.
In requesting “Special Police Services” (SPS) the organisers of the event specify how many officers along with the dates and times to be worked.
This is then costed in line with the National Rates set by the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) and a contract signed between the event organisers and the Force.
All SPS events are paid for in advance of taking place by the event organiser.
