The figures in the table above are subject to change where investigations are ongoing.
Devon and Cornwall police continue to see an increase in reporting of sexual offences demonstrating the confidence in victims to report these serious and harmful crimes.
The majority of these can be incredibly complex and lengthy investigations and Police seek a charging outcome in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service. This process can often extend the investigation timeliness, so it is not uncommon that charges will be forthcoming but not within the initial 12-month period from the time the crime was reported.
