The Road Safety Team have provided the following information.
I am writing with regard to the speed cameras sited on the a390 St Anns Chapel, Gunnislake, Cornwall.
I would like to know what data exactly is being collected by these cameras?
Video image of vehicle front / rear with ANPR technology
How long is this data is held for and by whom, also whom it is shared with?
The data is held within the camera for a up to a week depending on download frequency. If it’s a busy camera site, then less than a week as camera memory fills up.
Once downloaded the data is then wiped from the camera itself.
Data is only used by police for law enforcement it is not shared.
Are they solely capturing the snap shot image of a speeding vehicle when the camera is triggered?
Yes
Is any data relating to non speeding motorists being collected?
No
