Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FOI/24/007227/N
Version Date: 21/11/2024
At a community consultation about the proposed building plans in the grounds of Old County Hall, Truro, one of the council officers said that Avondale Road, that is currently a 'no through' road, might become a through road. The local community is concerned about this proposal because the exit from Avondale Road onto Station Road has poor sightlines and the speed of the crossing traffic. Earlier this year one of the residents suffered broken bones when she was knocked off her bicycle at the junction.
Because of these concerns, a request for a speed census of the junction was lodged at Truro Police Station. On Friday 18 October 2024 a data recorder was erected at the bottom of Avondale Road - TR1 3EU. The recorder had been removed by Wednesday 23 October.
On behalf of our community, please may we have the data we requested.
The Road Safety Team have provided the following information.
A speed detection radar was fitted from 18/10/2024 to 24/10/2024.
