Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FOI/24/7196
Version Date: 14/11/2024
The Stores and Procurement Department have provided the following information.
How much has Devon and Cornwall Police spent so far on updating the crown in its badges from St.Edward's Crown to the Tudor Crown as a result of the accession of King Charles in 2022?
The instruction from the College of Arms specifically stated that the King requested that all users should not throw away stock but should conduct a soft roll out and use up badges/insignia before changing. This principal has been adhered to where possible in consideration of the environment and public purse.
Kings’ Crown vs Queens Crown
All insignia is included in the cost of the finished product, and so the only additional costs incurred have been the origination and tooling costs to achieve the change. These total approximately £1800
How much has been budgeted to complete this update?
There is no specific budget
And when is it expected that the Tudor Crown will have fully replaced St.Edward's Crown?
In answer to when the complete replacement will be completed, there is no planned timescale because we are merely changing as officers leave and new officers’ join.
