Data Limitations:

Crimes and Road Traffic collisions cannot be compared, as there is no way to match the two together.

Data is reliant on the presence of the keyword but may not be relevant to the request.

Please note, that from 1st January 2008 -

Damage only Road Traffic Collisions (RTCs) will not be recorded unless there is a clear and specified purpose for doing so, specifically:

• Section 170 RTA 1988 not complied with (fail to stop)
• Police vehicle involved
• Other emergency services vehicle responding to an incident are involved
• The collision is one that provides a realistic prospect of securing a conviction against one of the drivers (Threshold Test aspect of the Full Code Test for Crown Prosecutors')
• Single vehicle loss of control

Also note that from March 2010 -

Non-injury road traffic collisions will not be recorded or investigated unless one or more of the following conditions apply:

1. A driver has failed to comply fully with the statutory requirements of the Road Traffic Act, e.g. fail to stop; exchange details
2. Allegations have been made at the scene and/or the attending officer considers that there is sufficient corroborated evidence about the manner of driving to prove an offence.
3. An offence is apparent - i.e. the driver has been arrested for excess alcohol"                                                                                                                 

For each calendar year 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, could you tell me:
The number of reported crimes which mentioned 'road rage' or 'aggressive driving' in the MO field of the crime report and the detailed crime type

Between January 1st 2020 and December 31st 2024, there were 1306 crimes found, which mentioned "road rage" or/and "aggressive driv" n the MO/Summary. 

For each calendar year 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, could you tell me:
The number of road traffic accidents recorded with a contributing factor of 'aggressive driving' (code 601)

There were 411 Road Traffic Collisions recorded, where "aggressive driv" or/and "road rage" were mentioned in the collision description or where aggressive driving (code 601) was in the factor description.
