Data Limitations:
Crimes are dictated by the principal crime rule, ergo, if theft of a motor vehicle was committed, but it was not the principal crime, it would not be recorded as theft of a vehicle and would be recorded as the principal crime instead.
It is possible that a theft of a vehicle crime could accommodate multiple individual vehicle thefts, although it would just be recorded as one crime.
Please can you confirm how many vehicles were reported stolen in Devon and Cornwall in 2023, 2024 and 2025
