Time Frame for Data:

1st January 2020 - 31st December 2024 for suspects/arrests, up to 4th November 2025 for checking if still released under investigation.

Data Processing:

1. The following Steps are actioned 3x in total, once for each offence type (Coercive & Controlling Behaviour, Rape and Sexual Assault):
2. Matched the Detainee Management Coercive and Controlling data to the Offence Management Arrest data and removed the arrests that don’t have a match (don't have an RUI disposal).
3. Split the matched data by year and dedupe each year individually by Nominal ID.
4. Pivots for each year, by Sex, and the aggregated each year into a table of number of arrests by Year and Sex.

Data Limitations:

• A suspect arrested for an offence in a year, could also be arrested again for a different offence.
• It is possible a suspect could be arrested for an offence (primary arrest), and then be further arrested (additional arrest) in a subsequent year.
• An investigation that was subject to an arrest in any year may have been filed but has since reopened due to other evidence. There are data accuracy limitations which may result in the timelines of the investigations being significantly longer than the actual live investigation days.

I am writing to ask that you please provide information on how many suspects have been arrested and remain released under investigation for each of the following crimes in the past five years:

1. Coercive and controlling behaviour

Searched on Home Office Code 8U

2. Rape

Searched on Home Office Codes 19C, 19D, 19E, 19F, 19G, 19H

3. Sexual assault

Searched on Home Office Codes 17A, 17A, 20A, 20B

Please break this figure down year by year.

Ie. XX number arrested in 2020 and still under investigation, XX number in 2021.

Please also break down the figures by sex, where possible. ie. X number of male suspects, X number female.
