Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FOI/25/008090/R
Version Date: 12/05/2025
The Prevention Department have provided the following information.
I would appreciate it if you could look at my request amd as per your suggestion I will refine my request to points 1 - 6
I am submitting this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to seek clarification on the Community Survey recently distributed at Park Pennkarn Delabole.
Specifically I request the following information:
1. Who initiated the survey and which department or external body requested it ?
Devon & Cornwall Police has recently developed a community survey via the Devon & Cornwall Alert community messaging platform. It has not been requested by an external body. The responsibility for the creation of the survey is held by the Neighbourhood Policing Lead within the Prevention department.
The survey was initiated to improve the force’s ability to facilitate proactive assessment and response to community priorities, confidence, and satisfaction at strategic, tactical, and operational levels. This is a national measure of neighbourhood policing performance.
The responses will be used to inform local neighbourhood policing teams of local feedback to tailor their response, to provide information on community confidence and to evaluate the efficacy of the Devon & Cornwall Alert platform for this function.
The force does not need a specific authority to conduct a community confidence survey. The primary legislation that applies to this survey is listed below:
This survey was distributed to all users signed up to the Devon & Cornwall Alert community messaging service. In addition, a limited media drive was conducted to reach interested members of the public.
The survey was sent to over 40,000 Devon & Cornwall Alert users across the entire force area.
No. There is a policing duty to understand and respond to the needs and voice of the community in delivering its core functions.
