The Professional Standards Department have provided the following information.
Searches were completed on Centurion from 01/01/2014 to 31/12/2024 with the description type of ‘Sexual Assault’. The results were reviewed to see if any had been detailed ‘Rape’.
Could you please tell me how many officers in your force have been dismissed and/or prosecuted for sexual assaults in each year since 2014?
- 2014 – 2 Cases resulting in formal action (1 rape)
- 2015 – 0 cases resulting in formal action.
- 2016 – 2 Cases resulting in investigations (0 rape)
- 2017 to 2022 - 0 cases resulting in formal action.
- 2023 – 3 cases Live and under investigation.
- 2024 – 6 cases Live and under investigation.
Please note that no information is held regarding cases that have resulted in a dismissal or prosecution. The general outcomes have been listed above.
Could you also please specify how many in each year were recorded as rape?

Please note that there is not a separate category for ‘Rape’ within the the Professional Standards Department complaint system. Complaints of this nature are put under the category of ‘Sexual Assualt’ while the complaint is investigated. If it is deemed a rape has occurred, then a crime is recorded separately in Niche.
If possible, could you also please break down the number of men and women officers in each year.
