Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FOI/25/008325/R
Version Date: 01/07/2025
The Road Safety Team and the Performance & Analysis Department have provided the following information.
I would be grateful if you could provide the following data for the 2024 calendar year (January 1 to December 31, 2024):
The total number of speeding offences recorded on roads within Dartmoor National Park.
255
Please note that this figure includes the following roads/locations:
The number of animal fatalities on Dartmoor roads, broken down by species if possible (e.g. ponies, sheep, cattle).
Searches were completed within the Performance & Analysis Team who have confirmed that this information is not recorded. ‘Animal fatality’ is not a category as there is no specific offence type.
If you were to provide a full list of animals to search on, then we may be able to provide this data.
Please note that the Dartmoor Livestock Protection Society keep records of animals injured in road traffic collisions. You can find their contact details on the following link: https://www.dlps.org.uk/report_casualty.htm
