However, Devon and Cornwall Police follow national guidance from National Police Chief’s Council - Guidance for Schools and Colleges. It does include ‘hate element’ on the document flowcharts, as being a factor when police may need to be called and there is a criminal offence such as assault, cyber-crime or harassment. This is the document we refer schools to in both counties.
College of Policing APP (Authorised Professional Practice) is followed by Devon and Cornwall Police – link Responding to hate | College of Policing. This provides further guidance on dealing with hate incidents in schools.
A booklet we share on all engagements with the public and partner agencies is on this link What is a hate crime and how to report it . This provides information on what is a Hate Crime, what is a Hate Incident and methods to report it.
If such training has been delivered please provide details of the content of the training, course material and any handouts or presentations provided to attendees.
