Filtered by date: 01/01/25 to 22/10/25 and 01/01/25 to 01/01/26

Exported Arrests Data sheet and Custody Record Data sheets

Excluding Custody Centres: Custody Other and Not recorded

For Arrests, filtering on Arrest Town of: Brixham, Paignton, Torquay, Ashburton, Chudleigh, Teignmouth, Dartmouth, Ivybridge, Kingsbridge, Newton Abbot and Totnes

Data Limitations:

It is important to note, an individual person may be arrested/detained more than once. Each of these arrests/detentions may be linked to the same or different custody centres.

Due to this, we are unable to count individuals just once within the data.

The report used does not include beat codes as laid out by the requestor. These were manually matched in using station codes.

It should also be noted, some of the beat codes provided cover the same sector. For example, FT (Torquay) and FP (Paignton) both fall within the Torquay Sector.

For question 1, we can provide figures based on the first custody centre an individual was taken to. It may be that a person was moved from one centre to another. In order to determine this, all detention data would need to be reviewed which would take over the appropriate limit of 18 hours.

Between 1^st January 2025 and 1^st January 2026, there were 23,653 detention records at the listed custody centres. This involves roughly 15,951 unique individuals. The following breaks this down by first custody centre.
