The Performance & Analysis Department has provided the following information:

Offence and arrest data from Niche 

Data Limitations:

• We have assumed that the Offences were happening at the time of the Arrest, given their nature.
• Some otherwise relevant offences have not been counted for this request since we cannot establish whether Drink or Drugs without reading each arrest record. There are 800 or so of these offences for the time period.
• Data relies on the correct recording of the offences on the Custody record.
• Data before 15 November 2022 (implementation of a new Records Management System (Niche)) only shows Primary arrests. After this date Additional arrests are shown. This means that the data for "Both" in 2021 and 2022 are not comparable to later years.

Please provide, for each of the last five calendar years (or financial years, if that is how the data is held), the number of individuals dealt with by your force for:

a) drink driving offences;

b) drug driving offences; and

c) offences involving both drink driving and drug driving arising from the same incident.

Please provide the figures in a table, broken down by year.

If your force records arrests or charges rather than offences detected, please provide the equivalent data held and state the basis on which the figures are compiled.

If an individual has been arrested more than once in a category (Drink, Drug, Both) in a calendar year please note that they are only counted once in that category for that year.
