Foreign Registered Vehicles

The Road Safety Department has provided the following information:

 Between 1st April 2025 and 31st March 2026,
1.How many foreign registered vehicles were recorded breaking speed limits by speed cameras in Devon and Cornwall?

2,911

2.How many Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIPS) did you send to the keepers of the foreign registered vehicles that were caught speeding by speed cameras?

There were no Notice of Intended Prosecutions sent to these drivers as we have no way of knowing who was driving them, as they are foreign registered.

 

Where multiple offences have been committed by a foreign-registered vehicle, our investigation team conduct enquiries to highlight and pro-actively stop them and obtain details of the driver and keeper to enable a prosecution. If foreign-registered vehicles exceed the 6-month limit where they must be registered with the DVLA, these offences are also followed up.
