Data Limitations:

On November 14th 2022, Devon and Cornwall Police transitioned to a new crime management system. As part of this transition, non notifiable offences, which Devon and Cornwall Police are not required to record as a crime as per the Home Office Crime Counting rules, were no longer routinely recorded.                                      

Whilst a crime may not be recorded, there is still a requirement to record an incident in respect of these offences.

However, offences relating to Hare Coursing are not easily identifiable in our incident data. All Animals/Wildlife and Animal Problem tagged incidents would need reviewing for relevance.

Whilst we are able to search a crime's MO/Summary, this only gives a small insight/overview of the offence.

Between April 1st 2023 and March 31st 2026, there were 61 reports (crimes and incidents) recorded, which mention "hare cours" in the details.
