The HR Resourcing Department has provided the following information:

We are not able to give the data for the day requested as we obtain our data on the last day of every month. The figures below are accurate as 30th November 2025.
Please provide the following information as held on 14/12/25, relating only to sworn police officers (excluding police staff and PCSOs).
1. The total number of police officers employed by the force (headcount).
Total number of Officer employed by D&C is 3587 and this is excluding anyone currently on Career Break or on External Secondment
2. The total full-time equivalent (FTE) number of police officers.
Total FTE is 3611.64 and this also excludes anyone currently on Career Break or External Secondment.
3. The number of police officers recorded as being on long-term sickness absence (as defined by the force).
Currently there are 125 Officers off on Long Term Sick, defined as being off for 29+ days.
4. The number of police officers recorded as being on restricted duties for medical reasons.
Currently there are 119 Officers on restricted duties, this number is all Officers on restricted duties and not limited to only those due to medical reasons. Our data does not go into the specific reasons as to why an Officer is on restricted duties.
5. The number of police officers who are:
- neither on long-term sickness absence
- nor on restricted duties
Total number of Officers who are not on Long Term Sick or Restricted Duties is 3343. This is simply the total number of Officers minus those on Long Term Sick and Restricted Duties
6. As of 14/12/25, what is the longest single period of continuous sickness absence (expressed in months or days) recorded for any currently employed police officer?
As of 30th November 2025, the longest current absence is 897 days
