Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FOI/26/9362
Version Date: 03/03/2026
The Professional Standards Department has provided the following information:
We have low confidence in the details around suspensions and restrictions, this is due to not having consistently been recorded, therefore these figures have a margin of inaccuracy.
To note, the data indicates that the subject has had a suspension or restriction, however where an officer has been involved in multiple cases it is not possible to determine which case it relates to, it is not possible to get this information from this dataset. Furthermore, a subject could have been restricted and suspended during different periods on the same case, this means there is double counting within the figures.
Search Criteria / Methodology
Centurion extract includes both Conduct and Complaint cases.
Date parameters based on latest proceedings date.
Allegation Category (J) ‘Sexual Misconduct’
Allegation Type (Y) ‘Other Sexual Misconduct’ and (B) ‘Sexual Assault’
Keyword wildcard search ‘sex’ within the allegation summary. This was then followed by a manual review to determine cases that fit the requested criteria.
For awareness there have been historic issues with data recording onto Centurion resulting in poor data quality and therefore reliability / accuracy of some data. An increase in resourcing along with restructuring, plus external reviews are supporting a committed approach to improving this.
For the 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 calendar years, please state the following:
How many of your officers faced internal disciplinary proceedings for alleged sexual misconduct?
How many of these officers were suspended?
