The Devon and Cornwall Community Scrutiny Panel is an independent, volunteer-driven community of leaders across Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly. Its core aim is to build trust and transparency between the police and the public, ensuring that policing is fair, accountable, and inclusive.
The Panel meets online to review how Devon and Cornwall Police use powers such as Stop & Search and Use of Force. Members view actual body-worn video footage from local incidents and examine police data to identify patterns, address concerns, and highlight good practices.
Through open and constructive feedback, the Panel supports the police in improving their approach while serving as a valuable point of contact for communities with concerns about policing.
Anyone aged 16 or over who lives in Devon, Cornwall, or the Isles of Scilly and has not worked in policing in the past three years is welcome to apply. No experience is needed - just a willingness to learn and engage. All meetings and training are held online to ensure accessibility and support sustainability.
