Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams consist of Neighbourhood Team Leaders (police sergeants), Neighbourhood Beat Managers (police officers) and police community support officers (PCSOs) who are accountable to their local community. A key element of the role is to undertake community engagement to understand community concerns and update them on police activity in order to build confidence.
They will work in partnership with teams both within the police (for example alcohol licensing and youth intervention) and externally (local authorities, Environmental Health and registered social landlords) to problem solve community issues. The underlying principle of our neighbourhood policing model is to intervene at the earliest possible opportunity to prevent an escalation of crime and harm.
Addressing Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) and Associated Crime. We are committed to working in partnership with local agencies and the community to deliver sustainable, long-term solutions to issues affecting Plympton.
Issued 04 October 2026
The Plympton Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to conduct regular foot patrols and high visibility car patrols, targeting areas identified through community feedback and intelligence. We have used ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour) powers to issue warning letters to several youths, these is part of an escalation process if behaviour continues. We work closely with our retail outlets in regards to thefts, using collaborative systems to help them collate evidence and report incidents easier. The Neighbourhood Team also patrol with the Plymouth Against Retail Crime (PARC) Rangers to help deter retails thefts, the Rangers also give advise to retailers and help identify suspects.
