Nuisance Motorbikes have been highlighted by local residents as an issue in the Honicknowle area.
Issued 01 October 2026
The Honicknowle Team will seize and remove any nuisance bikes whether these are motorbikes, Electric bikes or e-scooters off our pavements and roads when they can, if it is an e-bike or scooter as it is not possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters/bikes. If it is a Motorcycle, then it may be possible to seize it under other Police Powers.
Please understand that we will endeavour to deal with this issue, but we are limited on dealing with some of the bike riders when it comes to a chase due to hazard and public safety.
If you use a privately-owned e-scooter/bike in public, you risk the vehicle being seized under S.165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, for not having any insurance.
The Honicknowle Team have also recovered several stolen motor bikes and e-bikes, over the last few months. With your help in reporting these incidents we can continue to remover these bikes from Honicknowle, thereby reducing crime and enhancing safety for everyone.

We continue to receive reports from residents regarding the anti-social use of motorbikes and e-bikes in the Honicknowle area. These incidents often involve bikes being ridden at excessive speeds, on footpaths, through parks and green spaces, and in a manner that causes distress to local people.
Neighbourhood officers are carrying out targeted patrols in identified hotspot locations and are working with partner agencies to gather information and identify those responsible. Where offences are detected, appropriate enforcement action will be taken, including the seizure of vehicles being used illegally or anti-socially.
We appreciate the impact this behaviour has on our communities and would like to reassure residents that reports are being taken seriously. Information provided by the public plays a vital role in helping us build intelligence and direct our patrols effectively.

Rise in shoplifting in local shops
Issued 01 October 2026
We are taking firm action to reduce shoplifting and anti-social behaviour especially around Tesco Transit Way shopping area and the surrounding shops. Not only does shoplifting cause financial loss to local businesses but also creates stress for staff and customers, impacting the sense of safety in our community.
To tackle this, our officers are:
Using Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBO’s) to deal with persistent offenders. These are court orders that can ban individuals from certain areas or behaviours, helping to prevent further offences.
The Honicknowle Police team work closely with local businesses and are visible each shift in the area. The team aim to share information when appropriate and coordinate responses focusing on key locations where offences are most common. This targeted, partnership-led approach is already making a difference – helping to deter crime and improve safety for everyone.
The local Policing team are increasing patrols with the PARC officers in the vicinity and in discussions with the landlord of the site regarding target hardening.
01/10/26 Neighbourhood Priority Update – Anti-Social Behaviour, Tesco Transit Way
The Local Policing Team continues to address reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in and around the Tesco Transit Way area. Officers have been carrying out regular patrols, engaging with local businesses and members of the community, and gathering information to identify those responsible for ongoing issues.
As part of a long-term problem-solving approach, the Local Policing Team is now working closely with an architect to explore opportunities for target hardening within the location. This work will focus on designing out opportunities for anti-social behaviour through environmental improvements, increasing natural surveillance, and making the area less attractive for those engaging in nuisance and disorder.
Partnership working remains a key element of this neighbourhood priority, and the team will continue to work with Tesco, local stakeholders, and residents to improve safety and reduce ASB. We encourage the community to continue reporting incidents so that we can build an accurate picture of concerns and direct resources effectively.
The Local Policing Team remains committed to making Tesco Transit Way a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone.
