Local Policing Team
Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams consist of Neighbourhood Team Leaders (police sergeants), Neighbourhood Beat Managers (police officers) and police community support officers (PCSOs) who are accountable to their local community. A key element of the role is to undertake community engagement to understand community concerns and update them on police activity in order to build confidence.
They will work in partnership with teams both within the police (for example alcohol licensing and youth intervention) and externally (local authorities, Environmental Health and registered social landlords) to problem solve community issues. The underlying principle of our neighbourhood policing model is to intervene at the earliest possible opportunity to prevent an escalation of crime and harm.

1; Anti-Social Behaviour such as drug use, alcohol related issues, violence and public order offences on New George Street area and Courtney Street area within the city centre
Action taken:
Police to take robust action against individuals who are causing repeated anti-social behaviour in area by way of escalation processes, engaging with other local agencies and utilising policing tools such as dispersal to improve safety concerns within the area to increase public confidence and ensure safer streets

3. Violence Against Women and Girls, Evening and Nightime Economy/Licensing
• Increase police visibility in the evening and night time economy (ENTE) - early evening engagement Friday and Saturday evenings by Neighbourhood Officers.
• Improve engagement with licensed premises to develop intelligence and partnership working
• Continue our partnership work around Project NightEye based intelligence, with early use of civil orders or Sexual Risk Orders. This targets our most prolific offenders within the night-time economy area.Action taken:
Each Friday and Saturday evening, we stand up our Nightime Economy Policing Operation with officers deployed on foot at key locations. This includes the Barbican and City Centre area.
Plain clothes operations to identify those targeting women and partnership working and utilisation of civil orders to reduce incidents
