Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams consist of Neighbourhood Team Leaders (police sergeants), Neighbourhood Beat Managers (police officers) and police community support officers (PCSOs) who are accountable to their local community. A key element of the role is to undertake community engagement to understand community concerns and update them on police activity in order to build confidence.
They will work in partnership with teams both within the police (for example alcohol licensing and youth intervention) and externally (local authorities, Environmental Health and registered social landlords) to problem solve community issues. The underlying principle of our neighbourhood policing model is to intervene at the earliest possible opportunity to prevent an escalation of crime and harm.
Shoplifting
Shoplifting remains a Government priority and, as such, is a priority for Honiton NPT. Shoplifting can be undertaken by people of all ages and can affect shop staff mentally, as well as the store through monetary loss.
Issued 01 May 2026
Over the past month, further instances of shoplifting have been reported to us, which has led to KH NPT assisting their Response colleagues with identification and evidence gathering in order to apprehend offenders and arrive at positive outcomes for victims
A meeting between Stores in the town had been hoped to have arranged prior to the end of last month, however this has not been progressed as yet due to summer demand and is targeted to take place in September.
If you are a store owner in Honiton and would like to get involved in this meeting, please contact PC Amarilli at Honiton Police Station

ASB - anti social behaviour to include anti social driving
Whilst anti-social behaviour will still be targeted within the town, the main Anti-Social focus for the next period will be on ASB Driving. This will include vehicles being driven without insurance and/or a valid driving licence, vehicle theft, unroadworthy vehicles, and drink and drug driving. Antisocial driving such as speeding, revving, loud music and large car meets also meets this criteria. This will include conducting speed checks in identified hotspot areas, supporting and expanding Community Speed Watch Activity, address vehicle related ASB through engagement and enforcement, and promoting road safety awareness.
Issued 01 May 2026
ASB in Honiton continues to drop, with only 6 reports received throughout this period. These include the use of E Scooters on public roads, which is an offence in itself due to their classification as MPVs.
ASB associated crimes remain low, however we are acutely aware of the impact of these crimes on our community. As such, 3 further CPWs have been issued and another 2 awaiting issuing, with 2 CBOs still at the application stage for other offenders.
Hotspot patrols within the town at key times and have contributed to a reduction in such crimes
